Now in its fifth year, this highly anticipated limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky has been unveiled by The Whisky Exchange to celebrate the good things in life this Black Friday. Similar to their April Fools’ Day whisky earlier this year, it is an anonymous Speyside single Malt Scotch whisky, this time bottled at 22 years old. It’s a vatting of a number of casks – the details of which are not even known to TWE and is bottled undiluted at 49.2% ABV and sold for £110 which is a very good price for a 22-year-old single malt.
Only 1,800 bottles are available, launching online Now!! and inThe Whisky Exchange shops at 11 am.
I’ve received a wee sample and if you’re asking yourself how it is, read on …
Black Friday 2021 edition, 22 yo, 49.2% abv, £110
Nose: Nice and fruity along with old wood notes, which is lovely: baked red apples, and some sweet sultanas, sprinkled on BBQed bananas, some pear and apricot in sweet syrup, wood varnish, and some fresh grassy notes as well, with a touch of mint and lemongrass.
Palate: feels quite light at first, then the flavors start building, with more of the fruity goodness from the nose, some peppery notes come through, then we’re in for a treat – tropical fruit galore with yummy polished oak notes, vanilla and wood spices, along with milk chocolate. It gets a bit dusty and leafy towards the end.
Finish: polished oak, pepper, and cocoa powder/latte notes. quite long and dry.
Conclusion: What the nose promises, the palate delivers. Highly enjoyable and complex, with lots of bright exotic fruit and a nice choco-milk / latte coffee finish. Feels old enough well compose, with a yummy polished wood note. if you fancy those – you’re in luck.
A very worthy and well-priced Black Friday whisky, whatever distillery it comes from. it should sell out quickly, so think fast…
Happy black Friday. 🙂

2 days in and still plenty available. That’s a first. Overpriced, or waning interest ?
indeed.
that’s a first. good question.
there were a lot of bottles, and I guess the profile was not “unique” enough.
