it’s November, and time to think about Xmas and holidays drams to be had in winter, when the weather’s cold and snow is falling outsides (well, not around here, but in the EU, Americas it does, right?). Winter nights in Israel are not very cold, but sherried whiskies are welcome in winter even around here.
This whisky comes from a mystery distillery (not many details, but the color is very dark), distilled in 2008 & matured in a single ex-sherry hogshead for 12 years, before being bottled in 2021. Let’s have a go, a lovely sherried dram is just what I need after Friday dinner.
Not guessing here, but I’ve been told it was put under the “Macallan” sections when it was no sold out, so most changes this is a mac. A good one too..

Nose: Classic big sherry over here, with dried sultanas, figs and dates, sticky caramel, pepper and baking spices and hints of Glühwein, and dark black tea alongside chocolate and grilled chestnuts.
Palate: The palate is a direct extension of the nose, starting with pepper and chili, then moving on to milk chocolate, sultanas, dates sprinkled with cinnamon, and muscovado sugar.
Finish: Long, sweet, savory with dark chocolate, date spread, and a hint of licorice candy.
Conclusion: Xmas just got merrier, if you have this dram in hand. Lovely sherry-centric whisky, that would go with dessert or after a nice meal in wintertime. Too bad it’s sold out.
