Another expression from the Originals single casks series bottled for The Whisky Barrel, this time a single cask first fill Oloroso sherry hogshead #TWB1007 bottled 2019 yielding 254 bottles all in all.
Miltonduff 10 Year Old 2009, 63.4%, £65
Nose: big sherry influence here for sure with oloroso sherry, dried fruit, unripe banana, chocolate, cherubs, wet casks, red wine infused with cinnamon and pastries with date filling.
Palate: sweet and thick, viscous and oily, lots of sherry, ripe fruit, sultana, milk chocolate with chili flakes, honey, and vanilla, wood char. Quite drinkable at this very high (over 60% abv), and some water can certainly be added if you feel like it. I liked it as it is.
Finish: Manuka honey glazed pecans, and cashew nuts, dates, chocolate souffle.
Conclusion: A very nice big sherry effect whisky, but very drinkable and offering more than just sherry, and dry fruit profile, which is nice.
Score: 86/100
