A good single cask Edradour?Apparently it’s possible, even if it’s not very common. After last month’s sherried peated Ballechin I liked quite a lot, its high time to try this single cask by Signatory once again (the owners of Edradour distillery). They probably have access to the best casks out there, and this one’s another good example.
This time we’re talking Single cask first fill sherry butt #46 bottled October 2018 by Signatory Vintage for the Un-Chillfiltered series. This is a specially selected release exclusive to The Whisky Barrel. 339 bottles at natural cask strength.

Edradour 10 yo 2008 cask #46, 58.7% , £70
Nose: very nice big sherry influence up front. Rich toffee, dried fruit: mainly figs and prunes, Silan honey (date honey) and cinnamon bark, pepper and clove. Xmas!
Palate: clean sherry, but loads of it, chocolate dried fruit, sweet dough ripe oranges, XMAS cake again (reminds me of Islay Bart’s whisky cake), more toffee, chili flakes and espresso.
Finish : more of the dark chocolate, and the dried fruit, oak and spice.
Conclusion: Quite lovely as a matter of fact, if you’re asking.. Clean sherry, lots of dried fruit goodness, rich toffee, XMAS cake , and not even one off note. Good stuff, if you’re a sherry lover. If only all OB Edradour were on this level…. You can’t go wrong with signatory casks and TWB have done well in choosing their exclusive bottlings. Well done guys.
