The whisky Barrel ( a very good online whisky shop) is celebrating 10 years, and the guys have bottled a few commemorative bottles, the first of which I am to review, is this 11 year old Glenlivet.
This beauty comes out from a Single cask first fill sherry hogshead #900552 bottled August 2017 by Signatory Vintage for the Un-Chillfiltered series. This is a specially selected release to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of The Whisky Barrel. 316 bottles at natural cask strength. A sherried Glenlivet is always something that interests me, and this one looks absolutely faboulous (look at the color, all natural mind you!)
Glenlivet 11 Year Old 2006 Signatory 10th Anniversary First Fill Sherry cask #900552 , 63.5% abv, £80
Nose: Big bad wolf! 63 % and more of sheer richness and sherried power : rich thick sherry, some black tea, hint of tobacco, red fruit, raisins and dark chocolate, pepper and allspice. With time rich toffee develops. Lovely stuff this. Really rich and deep. Glenlivet? Oh yea
Palate : thick and oily. Almost chew-able. Brimming with flavor. More dried fruit, wine tannins galore, big toffeed baked fruit, raisins and more chocolate, a hint of sulfur.
Finish : sweet dried fruit, fruitcake, wood, bitter cocoa and more toffee.
Conclusion:
This is one yummy Glenlivet my friends, Excellent sherry cask, It’s so rich and toffeed you can chew on it. Great stuff, with a superb body, richness. It makes me happy to sip on this on a cold rainy night. It’s so comforting. At this price: A no brainer.
