Quite a few G&M releases to review, and this one is the first in this batch. An inchgower distilled in 2002, aged in a refill sherry hogshead, and bottled at 46% for the Connoisseurs Choice series, and as a part of their ‘The Wood makes the Whisky’ campaign.

Inchgower 2002 (G&M) – Connoisseurs Choice , 46 % abv  , €64.50  inch

Nose: Rich malty notes, fruit cakes, orange, and a sour-ish note too (sherry, right?) ,  some raisin and bits of dried citrus peel candy,  a wee smoke maybe too, with old wood casks sort of dunnage house mustiness, which is  rather Interesting .

Palate: Nice sherry and some dried fruit compote (dig, sultana, prune) ,with touches of wood, honey, and malt, sweet wine, and toffee candy,  orchard fruit as well.

Finish : Sweet stewed fruit and honey, raisin, smoke.

Summary : A very good dram indeed, nice musty touches on the nose, and lovely sherry infleunce there with enough depths for this age… not bad at all.  Good work G&M.

Score: 86/100
