Summer has officially ended, and Autumn is upon us. Not that it says much over here,as its still mostly too hot to enjoy a dram outside, but things are looking better with the occasional milder day or so. I was feeling like an Aberfeldy, no Idea why, and I did remember I have this one i’ve been meaning to try for quite some time now. Bottled in 2015 , and bearing the enticing name of A Banquet of fruit, this could be exactly what i need…
Banquet of Fruits 1994 (bottled 2015) – Wemyss Malts (Aberfeldy) , £85
Nose : baked apples, strawberry yogurt, tinned peaches, vanilla pods and a nice woody, malty edge that extra well to balance it all.
Palate : yummy wood up front with more of the fruity notes, mostly Apple strudel with a nice battery crust as well as orange marmalade
Finish : vanilla, citrus and wood.
Highly enjoyable if you’re a fan of fruity whiskies and quite some wood spice , and a strong woody backbone. I am a sucker for those lovely wood notes in a dram. at 46 % it’s quite right, I wonder how much nicer it would be at CS… Still available online (At MOM) for 87 quid or so.
