Another bottling by G&M which is a part of their ‘The Wood makes the whisky’ Campaign. A Tomatin 1997, bottled in 2013, at 46%. Can’t be bad, right?
Tomatin 1996 (bottled 2013) – Connoisseurs Choice , 46 % , £70
Nose : creamy sweet vanilla on top of fried banana in caramel. Some citrus too to balance the sweetness and a hint of pear drops. Fresh.
Palate : oak wood, golden syrup and ripe banana, melon and a touch of mango there is also some chocolate and a touch of tea leaves.
Finish : creamy vanilla. Dried banana and milk chocolate.
A fun dram, on the fruity (Exotic some will say) side, with vanilla, and citrus. great summer dram if you ask me. Good stuff all in all, though not something exceptional.
