Time for some more SMWS , this time with a 10 year old Clynelish with this very nice name (we’re used to those from the SMWS, aren’t we?). The facts are : 1st Fill Ex-Bourbon Barrel , 10 year aging, bottled at a nice 60.5% abv ,and destined for the NZ market (so says whiskybase). Some people will think a 10 year old whisky can’t be excellent, but this is a good example of how a relatively young whisky, can rock.
SMWS 26.98 Lively as an Electric Acrobat , 10 yo , Clynelish, 60.5%
Nose: starts fresh with lemon zest, Pepper and nice waxy hints that are quite in line with what one could expect from a Clynelish. There’s also a sweet note, honey and fragrant wood.
Palate : that’s a very potent palate. Full of lovely pepper, citrus and wood, coconut and chilly. Vanilla, chocolate and some caramelized Biscuits and dine delicious wood. Great wood here for such a young dram. Lovely.
Finish: Sweet, waxy, with a touch of white chocolate.
Big bold rich, and fabulous. A dram to my liking! a lovely Clynelish. Keep them coming!
