Another wee sample from Maltstock, of one of my favourite Blended malts with a major peaty profile (and a cool looking bottle, mind you!) – Big peat Xmas Edition.
Big Peat Xmas Edition 2014 Batch 61, 55.7% abv
Nose: Fruity and smoky with caramelized apples with bacon and maple syrup. Some ash and leather too as well as cinnamon gum.
Palate: Big chilly and icy cinnamon bite. Then bacon in sweet glazing , smoke, ash and some seaweed and salt. Tar and leather.
Finish: Pepper and sweet BBQ meat. Salt and seaweed with a nice amount of ash.
This edition is somewhat less medicinal, but has enough BBQ and bacon sweet sort of notes to make up for that. High quality stuff again from D.Laing. Good work chaps. Seems this Xmas is going to merry.
