This whisky was part of Sjoerd’s American Whiskey bottle share, and It is the first time EVER i’ve tried any of the FEW spirits. I heard good things about this one, so I was really looking forward to it. Not much info about this one except that the mashbill is predominantly made up of corn as well as rye and some malted barley.
FEW Bourbon Whiskey Cask Strength , 61.5% , £59
Nose: WHOA!! This is strong stuff. BIG. BOLD. WOW. and now for some real notes: sharp and creamy at the same time. Big rye effect I guess. Mint. Maybe aniseed. Vanilla and dirty earth.
Palate: Wham. Ridiculously big! (yea yea, #TWSS) That’s a big palate. Big alcohol bite. Lots of spice. Ripe banana. Vanilla. Mint and anise. A bit if water tams it down but adds bitterness and adds a more spicy peppery tang.
Finish: Long. Spices. Wood. Butterscotch. Mint.
This is not whiskey, it’s rocket fuel. It’s so damn strong, and full of aromas and flavours, and the alcohol bite takes time to get used to. But, it’s pure fun. It’s gorgeous. It’s not yet another boring bourbon. It’s great, and sure is a Bourbon to remember among all the many of them out there, so bonus score for being that!
I want a bottle of this. It’s going on the wishlist so I don’t forget it next time I’m ordering from wherever.
