Time to try another D.Laing ‘Old Particular’ , and this time Highland park, one of my Fav. distilleries for sure. Distilled September 1996 and bottled in September 2013 , NCF.
Highland Park 17 yo , 1996 – Old Particular , 48.4% , £90
Nose: Aye laddie! It’s a very nice nose. Tons of heathery peat. Sweet cereal and hints of exotic fruit too, floral and smoky.
Palate: peppery and prickly with lovely earthy peat. Some heather honey too. Juicy and sweet but also dark and robust. The peat is back with smoke and sherry as in sun dried dates
Finish: Pepper. Peat. Chilly. Cereal. Kirsch and ash.
Bottom line:
A stunning Highland Park single cask. Absolutely brilliant stuff. Best Old Particular I’ve tasted to date.
Score: 93/100
