It has certainly been a long time since I reviewed a new Compass Box whisky. Some are in the queue. Gladly I have gotten a sample from a friend. the previous GKS versions (NY blend and Artist’s Blend ) were both great blends with the former peated nicely.
Compass Box Great King Street Experimental Batch #00-V4 , 43% , £32
Nose: A lovely combination of delicate sherry, some baked orchard fruit , a wee hint of smoke too but it’s in the backdrop. Some citrus and fresh dough.
Palate: Smoke is a bit more noticeable here as well as juicy barley and sweet fruit and a touch of dried fruit.
Finish : Dry, with malt , dough and a touch of smoke.
My two cents:
As always with CB whiskey this is very good stuff. I am not sure which one I prefer but this is a great blend to drink NEAT. Mixing could be nice too…
Score: 86/100
Cheers PS for the sample
