Two more (and last) single cask Dronachs from the lovely batch 8 (latest batch) of single casks. One is PX, and the other is Oloroso , slightly younger, but almost at 60% it’s a powerhouse. Let’s dram, shall we?
GlenDronach 19 yo ,1994 (cask 101) Oloroso, 58.40% ,£93
628 bottles were Available from this cask (all gone i think) , which is an Oloroso sherry, but the colour, oh the colour. darkish, and Really I would not guess it’s Oloroso sherry.
Nose: Very sweet and thick, with prunes, tobacco leaves, and lots of sugars, and dates, is this an Oloroso cask? really? wow. some caramel candy, and a whiff of balsamic and pine.
Palate: sweet and spicy, with lots of pepper, cinnamon, and ginger. spicy and fiesty, and lovely with some sweet prune juices too.
Finish : Peppery, gingery, jam and earth.
Incredibly rich for an Oloroso sherry, and a little spice monster. Pure fun.

GlenDronach 22 yo 1990 (cask 2971 – PX) , 50.8% , £112
604 bottled were made of this PX cask aged 22 year old.
Nose : sweet and very thick. White pepper layered upon sherry grassy dough. Fruity too: lots of plums here. Compote style. Sugar galore.
Palate: hot spicy and sweet. With tons of plum juice, vanilla and a citrus note. Meaty sherry. Really so.
Finish: long. Demerara sugar. Plum paste. Vanilla. Spice.
A textbooks sherry Dronach PX. plum compote to the max.

These are two exceptional single casks from GlenDronach, and indeed a lovely way to finish our tour of the Batch #8 of sherry Glendronachs. Time and time again, GD displays exceptional quality , and for you the sherry head, you can not miss with a GD. Truly superb. Chapeau!
