Just like its 15 older brother this one is a small batch single cask release, each cask is a bit different, naturally, but they will be close in profile. This time they have chosen to use only first fill bourbon barrels.
Balvenie 12 Year Old ,Single Barrel First Fill , 47.8%, Cask 12736, £44.50
Nose: gentle and quite light. Fresh Green apples, wet hay. Damp oak. Butter. Fresh ginger. Cereal and grape peel and hints of vanilla.
Palate: light and lovely with cereals biscuit-y. Vanilla on top of baked apples sweet honey and a touch of sultanas. Then getting zingy with citrus and lovely oak , wood shavings. Cinnamon. Warming. Getting dry , bitter and sharp with ginger.
Finish : Cinnamon on top of dark chocolate and lemon peel.
A very nice whisky, enjoyable and classic. balvenie fans would like it very much, so did I. Glad i bought a bottle, and it’s really silly they have are not sold out yet.
