So how awesome is twitter? It’s pretty awesome, and it’s great for whisky geeks who are able to talk, chat and engage with whisky Pros. That was exactly what I was doing with John mccheyne (A.K.A : @SMWSambassador). John is a great guy, and the Brand ambassador for the ever so lovely SMWS. I’ve met him last year, and been exchanging tweets with him for quite some time. I noticed he was talking with people about a certain SMWS Highland park (Flapjacks and OJ’s Cereal), and I asked for a wee sample to try this one myself, since It’s very hard to get any SMWS here. He was quite the gentleman, and agreed to send over a generous sample– so thanks John, you’re a true gent.
Highland park single cask by SMWS, can it be bad? No way, it was brilliant. and here are the notes, after I’ve enjoyed quite a few wee drams. It’s the good stuff.
SMWS 4.167 Flapjacks & OJ’s cereal , 54.7%
Nose: spiced and lovely with hints of Cinnamon rolls , fresh from the oven, some perfume and Sweet unbaked dough, Malt and brine, with a touch of morning cereal.
Palate: Savoury with spices. Fresh baked buns. Sweet with heather fire and smoke. Earthy peat. Pepper. Buttery and delicious. Not your “average” HP, but it’s HP alright!
Finish : Some Caramel, and spice. lingering.
A lovely, very interesting and delicious dram. Very enjoyable. Yet again good work by SMWS.
