The Chaps at Master of malt, do not rest on their laurels (they have won quite a few awards recently) and are hard at work, releasing more single casks and Boutique-y batches (expect a few notes in the coming weeks or so).
Arran – Batch 1 (That Boutique-y Whisky Company) , 49.10%,£43.95
Nose: Lovely wood influence here, lots of oak , and spices, gingery and zingy. some soft fruit in the background , but not a lot of apples, as i have come to expect in an arran. nice variation, though.
Palate: Pretty powerful, and zingy too with nice alcohol bite, and pepper. then getting more malty creamy with vanilla and baked apples. nice body feel, quite full. and wide
Finish: Lost memories of apples , pepper, spice and malt.
A lovely dram. Not a classic Arran, but very enjoyable as it is, and at a reasonable price point (although it’s a small bottle).
Score: 85/100
