A few weeks ago a few whisky friends met for a Bruichladdich night (a post is in the making, so hopefully more about that soon), and i was lucky enough to swap samples with a good whisky friends of mine, who brought this lovely sample. You all know i have a weak spot for sherried GD’s and this was just something I knew I would like. Cold winter nights are perfect for those sherry beauties, and Israeli winters are not very cold, but ideal for whisky sipping on the porch. This baby was bottled in 2010 as a 20 year old , with 638 bottles all in all, at 54.9% from a PX Puncheon Cask. All gone now. let’s taste this monster, shall we?
Glendronach 1990 / 20 Year Old / PX Puncheon Cask #3059 , 54.9%
Nose: very nice and thick with lots of sherry but also lots of spices. Sugar. Oranges. Chocolate. Dried fruit. Dates. Prunes. Cinnamon. Nutmeg. Wood varnish and vinegar. Red wine vinegar.
Palate : bitter chocolate. Orange peel. Cloves. Marmalade. Pepper. Spicy wood. Sultanas dipped in liquor. Major yummy.
Finish: marmalade. Chocolate. Pepper. Raisins.
A very yummy single casks sherry monster. I have had better but this one is very enjoyable! good buy if you can get any now.
