Always Nice taste new Kintra Whisky new bottlings. Erik M usually has a good nose for intersting casks to bottle, and this one is no exception. I think this is the first Glen Keith bottle I review on the blog, and that is more than welcome! This bottle comes from a Bourbon Hogshead # 120587 with a total of 156 bottles, and is still available on the whisky base shop for around € 84 which is a good price. Glen Keith is a mothballed distillery since the early 2000’s and that explains why there are not a lot of Indie bottlings.Let’s try this wee sample then :
Kintra Whisky Glen Keith 19 yo , 53.8 % ,€ 84.95
Nose: Tropical fruit with honey: think kiwi, guava, candied papaya, spices, cardamom, cinnamon, pepper . A real woody perfume. lovely stuff on the nose here.
Palate: Big mouth feel : starts spicy, then continues on some leather, not much fruit as the nose suggested, but more robust with a certain fruity element , and an oily feeling, maybe a pinch of salt too.
Finish : Bitter chocolate, cherries, wee smoke.
A great single casks this is, with an equisite nose, and palate, and a good finish to it as well. Was not expecting it to be that good. One of the best Kintras I’ve had recently.
Score: 88/100
