Been meaning to try this one for some time , and thankful to Billy for saving a few drops of this for me to have a go at it – you’re the man Billy. Another bottling by TWE in their “Elements of Islay” series, of excellent IB Islay malts at CS. Let’s dive in.
Lp2 – Elements of Islay ,64.1% , £43
Nose: A lovely and interesting combination of wet earth, sweet sherry and sugar, spice, medicinal note as well as some chocolate, and a certain saltiness, new leather, hay and those candy you take when you have a cold, forgot the brand name.
Palate: Sweet entry which gives way to, tobacco leaves, smoke, earthy notes, a bit of chilly pepper, medicinal and a lot of wood smoke, like we love to get on Islay malts (bonfire). wet casks, and a bit of that wet dog thing.
Finish: Very long, with residual sugars, and that bonfire smoke.
Good stuff, a lovely Laphraoig.
