When I was visiting London last month, for Whisky Live, I carried home a few samples I got from Billy my good whisky friend (and a great guy and a true whisky lover). one of them was this lovely Ardmore. I did hear good stuff about this one, and having read Stuart’s tasting notes , I had really high hopes for this one. This is a 19 year old bottled by Specialty Drinks which is a subsidiary of the whisky exchange. This one got great reviews by Serge, Dave Broom and Ruben of whisky notes, so here’s my 2 cents worth:
Ardmore 1992, 19 yo , 49.3% , £65
Nose: Mild earthy notes with pear on entry which gives way to some exotic fruit : papaya, melon , kiwi , wet hay. All engulfed by soot and smoke and wee peat reek.
Palate: Fruit salad: Kiwi , apricot and pineapple with some ginger candy. Zingy all engulfed by peat smoke. Creamy.
Finish : Medium length with smoke , fruit and fresh grass someone just stepped on.
All in all an excellent Ardmore no doubt. very fruity, and an interesting combination of aromas and flavors all in all. Good stuff.
