This baby was bottled for Diageo’s Special Releases edition in 2011. There are just 5,604 numbered bottles and the whisky was aged in refill American oak and refill European oak casks for 21 years. Littlemill has was mothballed in 1993 but Diageo still releases the odd bottle once in a while…
I think this is one of the first Rosebanks I’ve ever tasted, so It’s hard to compare, but I really liked this one.
Rosebank 21 Year Old 1990 (2011 Release) , 53.8% ABV , £158 , 5,604 bottles
Nose: Very light floral and with finesse. Flower petals with a lot of sweetness and some wee sherry undertone.
Palate: Cereals, dough, zest and pepper (white) alongside a bit of fruit, some exotic notes, I can not really pinpoint.
Finish: Drying and getting bitter with oak, and lemony cookies.
Excellent malt. I am a bit surprised there are still bottles of this one on sale. go get!
