Earlier this year the members of the WWW forum, an excellent forum, run by Mark Connelly, were asked to choose a single cask bottling that would be bottled especially for the forum members (if they chose to buy it, of course). After some discussion the choice fell on a 1984 Tamdhu which was bottled by David Stirk owner of the Creative Whisky Co. . I was lucky enough to be able to secure a bottle and was even happier when I opened it to sample the nectar. it was gorgeous and one of the sweetest yummiest bottles I’ve bought that year. It did take me some time to post my notes, and here they are, a few months ‘En retard’.
Tamdhu 1984 . WWW forum bottling, 50,15 ABV , American hogshead 2835 , 162 btl , Sold out
Nose: Sweet nectar, tropical fruit , with some citrus which balances the sweetness. Dashes of Dried Banana, sprinkled with cinnamon. a tropical fruit basket. Excellent.
Palate: Grapes, wood, chocolate fudge, exotic fruit, honey and lots of spice! mouth watering. and addictive.
Finish: Spicy, sweet ,and long with fruity notes and sweet cocoa powder.
To sum everything up : It’s a cracker. Delicious, very easy to drink, sweet, but not over sweet. Well aged, and does not show signs of getting too old. Splendid stuff, and a great selection of cask. If you can get your hands on one, somehow, do not think twice. for that price it’s wonderful.
