Distilled on the 8th March 1991 and bottled in March 2011, this is a refill hoggshead , with an outturn of 274 bottles. Non-chillfiltered, with no artificial colouring.I am a fun of the OB 12 and have tried some nicer Single Casks in the past, so i was really hoping for a good cask this time.
Master of Malt Cragganmore 20 Year Old 1991 , 54.20% , £50
Nose : Classic stuff. Speyside in a glass : pears & apples with a malty base some sugar and baked apples too. Wee spicy edge to it, a few more minutes in the glass reveal some oak spices and a certain cherry quality.
Palate : oh yea. Spicy mother of god. What an entry on this crag palate. Woha! Spicy with a capital S. : Hot on the palate with sugar , then comes the fruit and malty goodness. Apples , vanilla , and quite a bit if oak here as well.
Finish: Long with zingy citrus burnt sugar and bitter tea.
A little cracker.
Score: 88/100
Sincere thanks to the chaps over at MOM for the official sample.
