The Macallan are running the masters of phorography campaign for a couple of years now. if you like cocktails, on top of straight whisky dramming, then you may have heard of Cheri Loughlin , known as @intoxicologist on Twitter.
Cheri has created an exclusive cocktail called ‘The Journey’ to celebrate The Macallan’s Masters of Photography competition. This cocktail embodies the theme of the competition: ‘Great Journeys’. The top pictures will be judged by the master himself, Albert Watson, and the prizes are the ultimate journey around Scotland, which will include a visit to The Macallan distillery, and Nikon camera equipment. To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is upload a photograph of a ‘great journey’ to The Masters of Photography website HERE.
“The Journey”
1-1/2 ounces The Macallan Sherry Oak 12
1/2 ounce Cherry Liqueur
1/2 ounce Port
1/4 ounce Grand Marnier
1 Dash Peach Bitters
Orange Zest Twist Garnish
preparation:
Combine liquids in cocktail shaker with ice. Stir or shake to chill according to preference. Zest fresh orange twist over chilled cocktail glass, so essential oils spray the glass. Strain contents of cocktail shaker into chilled cocktail glass.
Tasting notes:
Full and lush with subtle chocolate and nutty notes and distinct sweetness. Dried fruit characteristic of The Macallan Sherry Oak enhanced by the peach bitters. The Macallan remains flavourful in the underlying theme of the cocktail.
