Well, i am feeling like an old Speysider this weekend. And i have 3 samples of such whiskeys i have not previously reviewed or tasted.
- GlenFarclas 40 year old – only recently released.
- Master of Malt 30 year old Speyside.
- Master of Malt 50 years old Speyside.
So,Which should i drink tonight for my Shabbat dram?
help me out guys!
To make things more interesting i will send a dram of the new released Arran Jerusalem matured whisky to one of those who comment and suggest what i should have. Poll winners to be announced Sunday.
Lechaim!
Gal.

care to explain???
I would Recommend the GlenFarclas 40 , as most GlenFarclas are Smooth and Light in taste and nose ,it will make the transition to Shabbat more easy , and it will not conflict too badly with the “hammer wine ” of the wine toast .
Also , you want a dram the transcend mellowness and tranquility , and I found the Farclas drams do that quite marvelously with out being to abusive or too light , they just make you relax and flow , and that is what the entry in to “Shabbat” should be all about .
thanks assaf!
very good points.

I would like to taste the master of malts 50yo….
But i think that all 3 of them are much interesing.
come over monkey boy and taste the 50…
Man, that’s a tough one… If it were me, I’d go 30, 40 then 50. Having recently tasted some Glenglassaugh 40yr (which is Sofa King amazing), I wish I started with their 21yr, then the 30yr, then the 40yr to get the evolution of it all. Thankfully I saved enough of the 40yr to do this!
I know the 30 & 50MoM’s and the 40 farclas are from different distilleries, I’m liking the young to old age approach.
Either way, enjoy brother!
Good point you have there josh.
nice stuff on the Glenglassaugh . where did u get all those lovely Glenglassaugh ?
whats hapenning with the cask? 😉
A little late to the party but if you were going to go through the range I would go youngest to oldest as well. If you are just going to have one for now I would go with the Farclas. I have no particular reasons for that choice though. No matter what you choose I am sure it will be great. Cheers!
Instead of going in order by age, I would divide between the OB and the MoM bottlings. Do the Farclas 40 first and write about it. Then do a comparison of the 30 and 50 year MoM expressions. Whatever you decide, I don’t think you can go wrong!
Cheers,
Jeff
