Time for the third and final single cask from the last batch of casks released by Wemyss only recently (see notes for the other 2).
This one is called Summer Orchard and is a 12 year old from Linkwood distillery, located in Speyside. Not sure why, but this is the first EVER Linkwood that gets reviewed on the blog, so strike …

Another little bottle (0,5l) with a lovely label, this time the Mash Tun in Aberlour a wonderful place with amazing Glenfarclas family casks shelf (and many others). Aberlour is well known for its sherried expressions, and winner of several awards, including the latest MMA (for it’s A’bunadh NAS which many of us love).

This is the fifth edition of our thirty year old Speyside Scotch Single Malt Whisky. and a new bottle and label design whilst the distillery remains secret and the whisky sherried (by the colour of it). Now, how does this compare with previous batches? I Loved the 3rd and 4th batches (both scored 88/100), and so wanted to do a …
Aultmore, Featured, Headline, Master Of Malt, Speyside, Tasting Notes, Wemyss »
I recently received to very different samples of Aultmore single cask, the first is a very young CS Aultmore bottled by the chaps at Master of Malt for their proprietary single casks, and the other a much older 30 yo Aultmore bottled by Wemyss Malts, at their regular 46%. A kicking youngster Vs. an older gentleman, could be a very …

My first Cardhu review on the blog I think, and it’s about time. Cardhu does not release a lot of single malt expressions, and it is mostly remembered for the infamous “pure malt” incident in which Cardhu due to shortage of stocks bottled a pure malt (mixed with other Speyside malts) under the same brand and label, which vexed whisky …
Cask Strength, Featured, Glen Moray, Headline, SMWS, Single Cask, Speyside, Tasting Notes »
My Second Glen Moray tasting note on the blog (the first was a Duncan Taylor), and the fourth from the SMWS bottle share series. distilled in 1976 and aged in an ex-Bourbon first fill cask for 33 years. Not a very common distillery to be bottled, and a good chance to taste something you don’t drink every day.

Another one of the SMWS bottle share by the good old Sjoerd from NL. Time to go through that bunch, methinks. And today : A Mortlach! Ah, I do love those meaty Mortlachs, and was hoping this one will be one of them. But, not this time. This was a very different story altogether.

A few weeks ago I reviewed the latest addition to the GG range the “Revival”, and this week it’s a much older whisky we’re trying from Glenglassaugh.
This dram is part of the old stock left to mature in the GG warehouses prior to the purchase and revival of the distillery. It was released in 2010, and has been quite successful …

I’m really happy to be reviewing my first GG malt on the blog today. I’ve heard many good things about the new distillery (which was revived after a long mothballing period), and it’s high time to get and know their malts.
Glenglassaugh was founded in 1875 by a local entrepreneur and his two nephews. In 1892 the distillery was sold to …

A long due tasting note from an almost forgotten bottle share arranged by my good whisky friend from the NL, Sjoerd. This Inchgower was distilled on the 20th June 1982 and aged for 28 years in hogshead number 6966 before bottling at cask strength on the 5th August 2010 for the Bladnoch forum. Total of 222 bottles.
