Tasting Jura 1976 – ‘Feith A’ Chaorainn’

1976. I am one year old. a wee baby, and at the same moment, some lovely spirit is distilled thousands of miles away on the isle of Jura. who would have thought i would be tasting it 35 years later ha? Lucky me!

Tasting Six Isles Pomerol finish

It’s blend time again. This time a finished blends which i find very interesting. Originally Six Isles is a blended scotch from Ian McLeod distillers consisting of  whiskies from each of Scotland’s whisky producing islands of Islay, Jura, Skye, Mull, Orkney and Arran. This wee dram was further matured (finished) in Pomerol casks (from the Pomerol wine Appellation)

Tasting Jura boutique barrels JO & JI

The Jura boutique barrels is comprised of three different expressions, aged in different sets of barrels specifically selected by the Jura distiller Willie Cochrane.  Each has been assigned a code in two letters used in the Jura warehouse to distinguish different barrels.

XU – heavily peated and aged in Ex-Bourbon casks.
JI – Oloroso Sherry.

Tasting Jura 21 yo 200th Anniversary bottling

The Jura distillery is celebrating it’s 200th anniversary and  to commemorate this event,  it has released a unique version of it’s 21 year old expression.
