AWARD-WINNING GlenDronach Distillery has today (July 14th) released Batch 10 of its renowned single cask bottlings.
Nine outstanding casks, ranging from 1990 to 2002, were selected by Master Distiller Billy Walker. Each one of these casks from the Aberdeenshire distillery is an excellent example of the typical GlenDronach character with tastes of sweet …

Back to the GlenDronach single cask release #9 with the oldest cask released in this batch, a 41 years old (older than myself) Oloroso Butt, distilled in 1972. That’s surely an interesting one (and quite expensive, as you might expect – so it’s for those of you with deep pockets, or willing to share with a few mates). After the …

I planned to taste this one later this week, but following Ruben’s review I was rather intrigued to taste it earlier and see if it’s really THAT bad (a 78 for a GD single cask is not something you often see on the blogosphere). So, here’s my take:
GlenDronach 1991 cask #5405 [Batch #9], £104

This is the first cask I am tasting from Batch #9 of single casks released last December (full story here). No reason why I started with the 1985 but I had a feeling this is going to be a good one, and boy was I right (not that there are any bad GD single casks). Distilled 13/12/85 bottled at 53.7% …

Time for a quick review of the latest batch from Glendronach CS. I really liked both Batch #1 and Batch#2 , and was keen on trying this 3rd and see how (and if ) it differs. this one comes at 54.90% abv, carrying no age, as usual.
GlenDronach Cask Strength – Batch 3 , 54.90% , £56
Nose: Sweet sherry with hints …

Two more (and last) single cask Dronachs from the lovely batch 8 (latest batch) of single casks. One is PX, and the other is Oloroso , slightly younger, but almost at 60% it’s a powerhouse. Let’s dram, shall we?
GlenDronach 19 yo ,1994 (cask 101) Oloroso, 58.40% ,£93
628 bottles were Available from this cask (all gone i think) , which is …

Time for some more Glendronach, as the weather is getting better and real Automn is on its way. Gone are the scorching days of summer (So i hope).
So… a 42 year old GlenDronach. Does life get any better than this? (hint: no). I was very lucky (and so thankful) to have gotten a wee sample of this nectar for review. …

Batch 8 of Glendronach has been released with batch 10 of BenRiach (Its sister distillery) a short while ago. I chose to start with the BRs then enter Glendronach sherry land, and here we are. GlenDronach indeed is synonymous with sherry casks, and indeed their entire range is heavily sherried, and very much loved by sherry heads. I chose to …
