It’s Thursday already, and let’s end this week with a bang!
A few months ago, Marc P, from South Africa who is a fellow blogger (A.K.A Whisky Brother) and good whisky friends came for a visit, and we met over at Shai’s for lunch and a few drams. Our host Shai put quite a few interesting bottles on the table, and …

Another Single cask bottling from the DT “Dimensions” series of cask strength bottlings by DT, this one comes from a 1991 cask (Ex-Bourbon I think according to color and profile) , and bottled at 54,8% ABV. This is also my first Glen Moray tasting note. So, it’s double as fun. Let’s roll :

Almost a month ago, the Balvenie unveiled a new expression available only to UK residents, and members of the Warehouse 24, Balvenie’s whisky lovers club. To celebrate this new expression they announced a live tasting event for anyone who’s a member of that club (one can easily join the club online, for free) and was quick enough to ask for …

A few months ago my good whisky friend Sjoerd announced another one of his famous bottle shares, this time a Bladnoch forum bottling share. Bladnoch in addition to being a distillery do operate as IB, and as such offer quite a few such bottling. I must confess it took me a lot of time to reach those samples, as my …

Today I’m reviewing a very unique single cask Benriach. This one was bottled specifically for the Singapore market. 484 bottles all in all. This bottle has a very interesting story. As it appears the Singapore market is a rather important market for scotch whisky, and there are quite some special cask bottlings being released there. I cam across a lovely …

Another one of the Toshans from the sample swap with the ‘Toshan Man, Mark. I was really looking to tasting this one, being a sherry cask, and indie selected by Belgian whisky club Fulldram. And I was in for a treat

Continuing our Auchentoshan journey, today we’re in for a treat. a cask strength distillery only bottling. In 2009 Auchentoshan held a festival over at the distillery , visited by over 2000 people. A special edition was bottled for the occasion, 500 bottles made, of a fairly young cask strength whisky (NAS on the bottle), which later was also sold on …

After the first member of the “dimensions” line , that excellent Aberlour ex-Bourbon cask, i had high hopes for this expression from the same series. This time We’re talking 23 year old, Bunnahabhain which rested in cask 2358 until being bottled in 2011, Cask strength, and limited to 225 bottles all in all.

I am not too fond of yearly summaries and selecting best whiskies etc, so I have refrained from doing that and now that we’re officially in 2012, it’s time for the first dram of the new year. I’ve selected a recent bottling (though 2011, I fear no 2012 bottling exist to date, early in the second day of the year) …

I’ve posted notes of a Port Charlotte bottled by my Danish friend Jorn, a few months ago, and that was a total cracker. Jorn is a great person, a true whisky and golf lover, and apparently has a great sense of choosing good casks. Now it’s time to enjoy his prior bottling a 10 year old Springbank he bottled last …
