Two months passed since the Whisky Israel Society summit #2 (which was all about Sherry aged whiskies), and it was time (long overdue) for summit #3. The idea for this summit’s theme was actually raised at the end of its previous as we had one Highland Park (1994), which was not all that impressive, and as some of the lads …

Xmas is near, and if there was a Xmas dram, this is it. It’s not new that The Macallan makes wicked sherry drams. I’ve tasted their 18 year old (1990) , their 12 and some of the FineOak (reviews coming, I know I am way way behind times).
Even that we do not celebrate Xmas here (most of us don’t anyways …

A few good months passed since the Whisky Israel Peat (and others) Summit #1 we held at the end of July, and we were all very keen on having another summit, and the sooner, the better. Just like with the previous gathering, plenty of emails, phone calls, tweets and dates moving around were involved until we all were content with …
Ardbeg, Caol Ila, Islay, Mystery drams, Smokehead, Whisky Links, scotch »
One of my first Islay malts was the “regular” Smokehead. I remember me sitting in a bar (The excellent Tel-Aviv based ‘Norma Jean’ which boasts one of the best whisky collections available here), asking the bartender for a dram of something peaty and reasonable priced. For those of you who never …
Islay, Laphroaig, Quick Dram, Whisky Links, scotch »
Laphraoaig is well known for its biting drams (at least when speaking of the younger versions), full of medicinal, iodine, tarry, briny peaty malts, and for a very good reason. Their 10 year old is quite rough, very powerful in terms of sheer phenol power and peat muscle, yet very popular.
Yesterday after sipping the 18 year old expression, it occurred …
Caol Ila, Islay, Tasting Notes, Whisky Links, scotch »
I’ve recently reviews Coal Ila Unpeated, and liked it a lot. It’s a decent dram, very complex and ultra strong when it comes to ABV. But, the bread and butter of Coal Ila distillery are the peated medicinal versions we all know and like. The 12 is a masterpiece, and I’ve sampled it before many times and loved it, But …
Quick Dram, Speyside, Tasting Notes, The Macallan, scotch »
Today’s quick dram is peat free. we’re visiting another Speyside distillery bottling. Not just a Speyside, but one of the Iconic Speyside distilleries : The Macallan.
The Macallan needs no introduction as it’s one of the most famous and best selling single malt whisky in the world (among the three biggest single malt selling distilleries) . The distillery is located near …
Japanese, Tasting Notes, Whisky Links, Yamazaki »
I have been longing to try the Yamazaki single malts for some time now. Luckily i was able to get hold of a 18 yo sample, just recently when exchanging samples with a local whisky enthusiast (Igal T). A good friend was generous enough as to send me the 12 yo as a holiday present for Hanukah (many many thanks …
