Calvados, Finishes, Headline, Springbank, Tasting Notes »
I’m always up to trying new expressions from Springbank, those are rarely below the very good mark. They have been toying with quite some wood finishes over there : Barolo, Shiraz, Marsala, and more, but Calvados is a finish I’ve almost never tried, not in SB’s and not elsewhere, and it was really interesting to see what this one might …

It’s Speyburn time again. 3 weeks ago on September 6th another twitter tasting took place, this time organized by Lukasz of Alembic Comms (who’s doing the magic stuff for inverhouse). The original date of the tasting was a few weeks before that, but they had to reschedule. I really wanted to participate, but I was flying to MaltStock the day …
BenRiach, Headline, Highlands, Tasting Notes »
Today’s dram is the Benriach Horizons 12. What’s so unique about it is that it’s distilled three times as opposed to most single malts which are distilled twice (or 2.5 times like in Springbank). Will be interesting to see how the third distillation affects the liquid. One thing I do like about this one and many young Benriachs is that …

Been a while since I posted an Irish whiskey tasting notes, and this one has been sitting patiently in the “backlog” queue , and it’s time. On my visit to London this week, I did buy the Cask Strength version of this whiskey, and I shall be posting my notes about that one soon…
This wee dram is as we call …

We’re back from a little Hanukah / Xmas break with another one of Wemyss malts blended malt whiskies. If you recall I have reviewed it’s younger brother a few months ago (8 year old) which was very nice. This Blended malt is made up from 16 different single malts, with an emphasis on 12 year old Islay malt. I’ve noticed …
Auchentoshan, Featured, Headline, Lowlands, Tasting Notes »
Auchentoshan has been one distillery I’ve yet to post any notes about. Weird, but when I come to think of it, I’ve only tasted very few ‘Toshans in the last few years, and don’t really know why. To rectify this I went to the source, The “Toshan Man” A.K.A Mark Dermul, who is a very well known Auchentoshan fan and …

I am not the biggest Glenfiddich fan out there, but when Tomer ,an Israeli blogger and whisky lover (who blogs in Hebrew about alcohol and whisky) , asked who is interested in a Glenfiddich tasting , where we’ll pretty much try the entire range, i could not say No. It’s true, I’ve recently tried most of it at the British …

A few months ago I finally reviewed Batch #1 of the Tweeddale blend, which is a great blend with a beautiful story behind it (read more here) . A few weeks ago the 2nd Batch of the same blend has been released. This time 12 year old rather than the 10 year old. It’s always interesting to see how batches …
