Two Whiskeys to start 2014–Stagg Jr & High West Double Rye

Again, two samples I got from Phil, this time American whiskeys I’ve yet to try. I did try the older version of the Stagg a few years ago (and a few weeks ago the latest batch), and High west Rendezvous a long time ago. These are quite different, one a very spicy Rye and the other, well, a cask proof …

Some Rye : Rittenhouse 100 proof bottled for The Whisky Exchange

Either you like Rye, or you don’t stand it. I happen to like that stuff, and though it’s not easy getting them here or for the matter in Europe, I do take pleasure in trying new expressions from time to time. When I visited Whisky Live last week I was given a wee sample of this one by a good …

Catoctin Creek–Organic rye whisky

No one has to learn how to help an alcoholic if only everyone would drink in moderation and not excessively.

Two facts for you:
1. I am not much of a Bourbon drinker. I’ve Tried a few Bourbons and American whiskies in my life, but I can’t say I was overwhelmed (One can claim I didn’t sample the best of Bourbons, that’s true, But I’ve tried a few before). They always seem to me less complex, sweeter.
2. Bourbon is not big …
