I started my BT Antique collection voyage with this 17 year old Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey. At 45% ABV, it is one of the weaker expressions in the Antique Collection (where some are way over 60, and even over 70%), but it’s a good one.

Cask Strength, Ex-Bourbon, Kavalan, Single Cask, Taiwan, Tasting Notes, Whisky Links »
It’s been a very interesting week here at Whisky Israel HQ, with three Kavalans already tasted and reviewed. If you read yesterday’s post, you will remember that i fell in love with the Ex-Sherry single cask expression which displayed complexity , power , and quality.
Today we are about to review its sibling the Ex-Bourbon matured spirit, at natural cask strength,no …
Cask Strength, Kavalan, Sherry, Single Cask, Taiwan, Tasting Notes, Whisky Links »
After tasting the two ‘basic’ Kavalans, we’re approaching the higher end expressions. Single Cask, Cask strength and no colouring or chill filtration. The real deal. The first expression that i am going to review will be the Sherry Cask. This nectar was aged for three years in an Ex-Sherry casks. Mind you, three years in Taiwanese time and the hot …
Kavalan, Port Cask, Taiwan, Tasting Notes, Whisky Links »
After tasting the ‘vanilla’ it’s time to continue with a cask finished version of the same spirit. This expression was finished in Portuguese ruby, tawny and vintage Port wine casks and then reduced to 40%. It will be interesting to see how the port finish affects this already, very fruity and exotic profile.
The packaging is a bit weird, with a …

It’s week #3 of August and It’s Ardbeg Month. Time for tasting the Supernova 2010 Release, I’ve been waiting a long time to sample.
The Peat wars continue, and this time with Ardbeg’s peated beast – 2010 version. Peated to over 100 ppm (a bit lower than the Octomore 2.2 released this year ) It’s Ardbeg’s most violent, and peaty of …
Amrican, Rye, Tasting Notes, Tuthilltown, Whisky Links »
A bit of a change. Most of the year we’re speaking scotch whiskies, single malts etc. Today i would like to focus on a very interesting American whisky and spirits makes – Tuthilltown. I first heard about them from my friend Josh of the JSMWS who told me about those guys a few days before going on a field trip …
Cask Strength, Glenugie, Highlands, Quick Dram, Signatory, Tasting Notes, Whisky Links, scotch »
Glenugie malt is not very common nowadays, and this is not surprising due to the fact that the Distillery has not been operational since 1983.
The distillery was founded in 1831, and until it’s closure changed a few owners, and went through a silent period during WWI. In 1937 it reopened and operated until 1983, a tough year in which quite …

I will always have a warm corner in my heart for The Balvenie. A few years ago, i didn’t really like whisky. The truth is that i did like whisky, but i didn’t know it… Until then i tasted only bad blends and no wonder i didn’t find them very thrilling. Until one day i visited my good friend Kfir. …
