The Balvenie Tasting event–Tel Aviv – Tasting the 40 year old and others…

We do not get a lot of visits by whisky brand ambassadors here in Israel: The market is quite small, and we’re not exactly located at the centre of the whisky universe. So, when an ambassador does visit, it’s really a treat to be able to take place in a real whisky event, which are quite scarce in our neck …

The Glenlivet Launch event–Founder’s Reserve (and the Winchester Collection 50 yo)

Last week, I was very fortunate to attend the global launch of a new, permanent addition to the core Glenlivet range. The occasion, held in The Library, a swanky members only club near London’s Trafalgar Square was the perfect setting, and Glenlivet had clearly gone to much effort to brand the place its own with bottles from their range strategically …

A trio of Balblair 2000 single casks–#Millennium tasting

Last night Bablair held a very special twitter tasting, in which 3 very different single cask Balblairs (cask samples, nothing commercial – yet) were on the table. This tasting was kind of special since it was done partly on site ( a few lucky bloggers on a trip to the Inverhouse distilleries) and the rest of us from the comfort …

Glenfarclas Makes ‘Alyah’ to Israel –Tasting Event – Part II

Last week I posted the first part of this tasting, led by Mr. Ransom , which we started like you normally do , with the younger GF bottlings (the 8,10,12,and 15).
So there we were after sipping on the lovely 15 yo, and ready for the heavier cannons so to speak, in terms of age, and ABV (the 105). But before …

Glenfarclas Makes ‘Alyah’ to Israel –Tasting Event – Part I/II

It’s not a secret Israel is undergoing a renaissance period when it comes to whisky in recent months, all due to the (timely) change of Taxation laws on Spirits that took place 6 months ago, and changed taxation for the better for High end whiskies at the expense of local cheapo drinks. Before the reform a bottle would have been …

Aberlour Twitter Tasting–Tasting 5 Aberlour–#AberlourTT

Aberlour A’bunadh is indeed one of my all time favourite ‘affordable’ whiskies, through many batches, and I know very well It is also a favourite of many whisky friends , But Aberlour distillery is much more than A’bunadh. I was very keen on trying a few more Aberlour I have not tried, and some I’ve had but not recently. What …

Four Reserve Mackmyra whiskies (online tasting)

The Internatioal whisky community is indeed not that big and one meets interesting people from all over on social media, and also in real life. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting  Anki Ulvmåne in real life , for the first time a year and a half ago, at Maltstock 2012, and even a better chance this year at the same …

Abbey Whisky Twitter Tasting–#abbeywhisky

Twitter tastings, they are a really cool way to get to know new whiskies, and the last one I’ve attended was just that, this time hosted (yet again) by Steve of the Whisky Wire and Mike from Abbey whisky. Now, Mike was generous enough to have shared some of his lovely single casks in the past two of which as …

Glenmorangie Ealanta 1993 , 19 yo

This very interesting expression was released in the beginning of 2013, but I have not been able to source a sample. With a little help from my friend Phil, This became possible. This wee dram was fully matured in specially sourced, heavily toasted new white oak casks from Missouri’s Ozark mountains. “Ealanta” stands for for “skilled” and “ingenious in Gaelic. …
