Back to the GlenDronach single cask release #9 with the oldest cask released in this batch, a 41 years old (older than myself) Oloroso Butt, distilled in 1972. That’s surely an interesting one (and quite expensive, as you might expect – so it’s for those of you with deep pockets, or willing to share with a few mates). After the …

Time for a short interlude from the GlenDronach single casks (will continue tomorrow GD fans, so now worries , eh?) with a very different and much younger dram from Islay, and from one of the most interesting Indie bottlers : Single Cask Nation. The malt whisky from the Bourbon and Sherry casks is made with Indian barley, while the spirit from the Port pipes is made from Scottish barley malted in peat.
I had the privilege of …

This is the last sample I have left untried from the latest batch of 12 single casks released earlier this year by Wemyss. I do love me a good tarte au citron, so This sounded delicious from the start.
Tarte au Citron 1998 – Wemyss Malts (Auchentoshan) , 46% , £77
Nose: Starts very nice with dough and lots of crème de …

Another cask from the latest batch of Wemyss, This one is a Longmorn (not had one of those for some time!!) vintage 1992, and bottled at 46% like the rest of them.
Wemyss malts Coconut and Sandalwood , 46% abv
Nose: Mega coconut notes here. Really thick. Vanilla and quite a bit of wood of sandalwood if you wish. It’s very …
