Tomatin to the power of four : Cuatro

Tomatin are on a Roll: releasing some brilliant products recently (loved the new 14 year old!) and now this: the Cuatro range. Unfortunately i was not able to take part in the tweet tasting in which all was revealed, but prior to the event with only the “Cuatro” name as a hint (they would not reveal anything, sneaky devils) i …

Canadian Club Sherry Cask batch SC-020

Time for some more Canadian whiskey. Today with one of the better known brands – Canadian Club. This expressions is a bit unique, as it was finished in Sherry casks. If you’re a scotch aficionado, chances you won’t be blown away by this procedure of finishing a whisky in sherry casks, as it’s very common in scotch these days, but …

Arran Miss Black’s bottle–visitor centre exclusive

Some bottles of whisky are that good, they get snatched off the visitor centre in a flash. This is one example. I heard great stuff about this bottle even before tasting it at the Arran whisky tweet tasting (have you read my notes for the Devil’s Punch Bowl part III from that tasting?), and wanted to check if I can …

Lagavulin 1995 – Feis Ile 2014 edition

It seems Feis Ile 2104 was ages ago, but It was really only a month or so ago. This year (like too many) I was not able to attend (but planning on going next year!), but with a little help from my friends from the amazing #whiskyfabric, I was able to arrange a sample of each of the FE bottlings, …

Quick dram: Overeem Take II- Sherry cask 60%

After I’ve enjoyed the sherry cask at 43% , it’s time to try the higher ABV version at 60%. I’m a big fan of Cask Strength whiskies, and rarely dilute with water at all , so 60% is no biggie, right? Let’s dram!

Tasting Overeem Whisky Part I

The whisky geeks among you must have heard about Overeem by now as it’s been around for a couple of years, mostly selling down under, but also in the UK in the past few months.I first encountered it when a good Australian friend of mine came over with a nice sample of the port version (43%) which was very …

Springbank 14 yo [1995-2010] Fresh Sherry pipe (Springbank Soc.)

When I read a review of this one by my good friend Sjoerd (here) I was intrigued, as I’ve never heard that combination “Sherry” and “Pipe”. We mostly hear pipes next to “port”. Pipes in this context mean tall barrels in which Port is usually aged. But we live and learn and apparently sherry is also sometimes aged in those …
