I will be visiting some of the latest whiskies bottled exclusively for TWB in the coming weeks (there are 6 such ‘Burns malt’), but I chose to start with this little Bunny 23 year old, 1989 vintage bottled last March (2013). Bunnahabhain is really not the most well known of Islay distilleries, and really lies in the shadows of more …

Another Exclusive for the whisky barrel. Another Islay, but from Bunna’ this time. this Burns Islay Malt was matured in a single fresh sherry butt #51. Distilled Christmas Eve 1990 and bottled 31st December 2011. I did taste quite a few Sherry Bunna’s lately and I really like their flavor profile, this one was not an exception.

It’s Thursday already, and let’s end this week with a bang!
A few months ago, Marc P, from South Africa who is a fellow blogger (A.K.A Whisky Brother) and good whisky friends came for a visit, and we met over at Shai’s for lunch and a few drams. Our host Shai put quite a few interesting bottles on the table, and …

Need I repeat my saying that peat smoke and sherry go well together, or horribly together, depending on the combination. This time we’re in for a treat. This wee wonder was distilled in December of 1990 and aged in a single Spanish oak butt for 20 years before bottling on the 7th November 2011. Just from the colour you can …

Wemyss malts also bottles some very good single casks in addition to the blended malt whiskies. The latest batch of single casks includes a distillery name on the label in addition to the Wemyss special naming scheme describing the whisky so accurately as I’ve grown to learn. Today we shall sample another one of those, a 1991 year old Bunnahabhain …

After the first member of the “dimensions” line , that excellent Aberlour ex-Bourbon cask, i had high hopes for this expression from the same series. This time We’re talking 23 year old, Bunnahabhain which rested in cask 2358 until being bottled in 2011, Cask strength, and limited to 225 bottles all in all.

Bunnahabhain is not my favourite among Islay malts, and the OBs tend to be very lightly peated. However the peated versions I’ve had are nice, and I have some very good memories of the 18 year old PX finish from last years’ Feis Ile (It was not heavily peated, but it was excellent, nevertheless). This one is indeed highly peated, …

After several days of preparations and discussions via emails and phones, the date and time was set for the first WhiskyIsrael Peat Summit. Kfir Bloch, Gal Granov, Igal Tabachnik and I met at Kfir’s place in the hot and humid town of Ramat Gan, located in the Israeli coastal area.
