Parker’s Heritage promise of hope

Time for a whiskey, don’t you think? and what better than a נםורנםמ from Heaven Hill? if you’re not familiar with PH : Parker’s Heritage collection is a series of rare, limited edition American Whiskeys offered as a tribute to sixth-generation Master Distiller Parker Beam for his 45+ years of distilling experience.
This series tempts the growing number of Straight American Whiskey enthusiasts with a chance to sample these choice barrels that represent every major style of American Whiskey.  As the only remaining national distiller that produces Bourbon, Rye, Corn and Wheat Whiskeys, Heaven Hill will continue to release various super-premium styles under Parker’s Heritage Collection.
Parker has been practicing his family craft of distilling, aging and selecting some of the world’s most critically acclaimed Bourbons and American Whiskeys since he began working alongside his father at Heaven Hill Distilleries in 1950.

The seventh edition of Parker’s Heritage Collection is the “Promise of Hope” bottling. Heaven Hill Master Distiller Emeritus Parker Beam, who has recently been diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also called ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease), has selected special barrels of Bourbon  that mirror his own personal preference for age, proof and warehouse location. For each bottle of the “Promise of Hope” edition sold, Heaven Hill will contribute $20 to the Parker Beam Promise of Hope Fund, established through the ALS Association in honour of the legendary 6th Generation Master Distiller (www.alsa.org/ParkerBeamPromiseofHope).

Parker’s Heritage Promise of hope, 48% abv, 10 yo , $90 (SRP)parkers

Nose: Apples , sugar and lots of acetone. Sweet maple and caramelised sugar. Oak and a hint of raisin. Brazil nuts. Sweet and luscious yet spicy.

Palate: Big and peppery on the entry. With more nail polish remover as well as being  oaky and dry , some banana over caramelised sugar. Maple syrup on top.

Finish : Drying. Oak and pepper. Cinnamon gum.

A really yummy whisky. Well worth seeking if you’re a fan of the genre.I know I am. You’re lucky if you can find one for a good price. Definitely one of the better Bourbons I’ve had recently.

Score: 88/100

Cheers Phil for the sample!
