This new Glenrothes is one of the youngest (save the 1998) vintages to have been released and is special in a way , since this is the first vintage bottling which is planned, before that vintages were just made out of existing stock, and were “unplanned” as opposed to this one. the 1995 is composed of 30% sherry treated casks (both American and Spanish oak) and 70% refill casks. Now let’s get dramming.
Glenrothes 1995 ,43%
Nose : Thick butterscotch , “lotus” biscuits , sweet. Vanilla and wee hints if zest( lemon) & spices. Classic stuff. Apples and some sultanas add fruity and sweet notes.
Palate: Chocolaty at first then turning spicier , then off again to thick chocolate covered cherries. Caramel and almonds.
Finish : goid length almonds , nuts and chocolate covered nuts with spice.
Botom line:
Very good. Solid. After dinner dram. One of the better younger Glenrothes’s i’ve tasted.well worth a try.
