Tasting Old Pulteney by – G&M Reserve Selected by Van Wees / DH17

After the OP ‘twasting’ a few months ago, I was very much interested in trying other OP’s. While chatting via twitter with a Dutch whisky aficionado , we agreed on a sample swap. A few days later this shiny wee bottle arrived all the way here, and i was really excited to try it. Will it be similar to the …

Tasting SpringBank ‘Jazz Edition’

Now it’s official. Springbank is coming to Israel.(it was available in the duty free shops, but now will be widely available). Tasting the new Caol Ila ‘Moch’

It was only a question of time until  Diageo’s turn to hop on the NAS bandwagon, and release an expression with a nice Gaelic sound to it, wasn’t it? So, it’s here, the new Caol Ila ‘Moch’ (meaning: dawn in Gaelic).
It’s not everyday that Caol Ila releases a new OB and this one got good reviews from bloggers and whisky …

Visit to Whisky Live London 2011, Part 3

I finished part 2 by mentioning that Richard and I continued on to the Glendronach and BenRiach stand. There we met Jim who has been working with both distilleries for the past seven years, and is responsible for all of the logistical side which includes amongst other duties the bottling lines, shipping and exporting. We asked Jim to his favourite …

Quick Dram : Master of Malt Caol Ila 30 yo single cask

Master of malt recently bottled two interesting single casks, this 30 year old CI, and another lovely Highland park 13 year old. I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek (by means of a little sample) . I am a fan of Caol Ila and think their malt is often underrated. How would a 30 year old single cask …

Happy Purim!

Purim is a lovely Jewish holiday, in which people wear costumes, read the “Megilah” and celebrate our deliverance from the Evil  Haman. In addition it’s considered a “mitzah” to drink quite a bit, until you can not tell the difference between the Good “Moerdachai” and the Evil “Haman”. This means, dramming. and lot’s of it.
A really cool holiday.
So, we wish …

Tequila time : Jose Cuervo Black Medallion

A Tequila on a whisky blog? well, yes!
Those of you who read the blog regularly know that i am a whisky kind of guy, but sometimes i stray and visit other aged spirits such as Rum and Tequila. I was fortunate enough to be given a bottle of this lovely nectar to try and evaluate by the Israeli importer. At …

Visit to Whisky Live London 2011, Part 2

As I wrote at the end of part 1, in this part, and the one after, I will share my experience of Whisky Live as a whisky exhibition, and I think I’ll have another part about the masterclasses attended (the one Richard and I attended, and another Raviv and Ben did).
Short disclaimer that also can be found in a way …
